Just a heads up that this community will be on hiatus from August 17 - 25th.

I will be on vacation with my Mom and will have limited internet access!

Please, enjoy the past prompts and we will be up and running again on the 26th/27th.

Good morning, everyone!
Just letting you know that starting Monday (May 19th), this community may be taking a two-week hiatus. I will be out of the country and may not get the time to post a prompt.

If there aren't any prompts posted by either myself or defy_gravity, you will have 1,400 prompts to play with.

Back in May of 2009, when stardoll created this community, I doubt either of us knew how long this community would stick around and how many prompts would actually be posted. We had hopes that it would be long lasting but I think we can all agree that after a certain number of years, some communities just start to fizzle out. I can't speak for her but I know I am so thrilled and excited to see how far this community has come and at the sheer number of inspiring prompts we have on the master list! I know, for a while there, posting was sporadic and there would often be days that go by that I didn't post anything but I am so glad that you stuck around and continued to get inspired by the different prompts!

Needless to say, I can't believe that in 95 days, we will have reached 1,000 prompts!

Holy crap!

For this momentous occasion, as suggested by butterflydreaming, this is your challenge:

On Sunday, April 7th, we'll have officially posted 1,000 prompts in daily_prompt. You are to use any past or current prompt on the master list* to create a 1,000 word fic/poem/play/rp snippet/muse reflection/creative piece. The idea is to share a snippet of it with the community once the prompt goes up. That gives you 95 days from today. That evening, I will create a special round-up of any submissions we get. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Sounds fun, right? I know I'm going to try this one out myself.

I can't thank you more for sticking around everyone.

I appreciate every single one of you for being part of the daily_prompt community and helping it to keep it going!

* I will update this within the week. Apparently 'never leaving it this long again' means...I will be doing it again until I can't leave it any longer. SO! it will be updated and I'll let you know when it happens.

Mod Note: I am going to work on updating the Master Prompt Post this week. I'm going to a wedding this weekend and will be out of town from Friday-Sunday. Hey everyone,
So as you can probably already tell, I've created a master list of the previous prompts and you can find it here or on the tags page under the tag: prompts!master_list. This list will be updated weekly (Saturday) with that weeks prompts with the links going to those entries. If you have a response to any of the prompts from last year to this year, feel free to comment on the corresponding post and it will be included in the next Weekly Roundup!

I was curious what your opinions were regarding the format of the prompts.
Do you like the image style or would you prefer no image and just the word(s)/lyric(s) bold and/or larger? Please let me know which you prefer as soon as you can! If it doesn't matter then stardoll and I will create a way that is easy and clean!

The tags will be changing soon - organized by what kind of prompt it is (ie: lyrics, photograph, quotes and words). The profile is also changing accordingly, information being added such as the master list and our new weekly round-ups!

There will be a new post momentarily that will be under the tag: Mod!Contact so if you have a question/concern/suggestion you can contact us there! It hasn't been decided if comments will be screened but if they aren't and it's something you don't want to ask out loud, feel free to PM us!
