I'm doing a quick bit of writing using a prompt each morning, and sometimes I use one from here (I have other sources so I look at a bunch and choose one that speaks to me).

Cassie unlocked the shop entrance and flipped the sign to ‘OPEN.’ The garish orange letters in the windows proclaimed the types of copying they could do… well, the types most people needed, at least.
What’s it look like today?” she called to her co-worker, Paul. He was in the back, checking the store’s e-mail to set up jobs and reply to requests. Paul was a manager, but he let Cassie make the call on a lot of things. It wasn’t because he was incompetent, either; he just believed in leading from behind. It was one of the things Cassie liked about him.
Cassie powered up the till computer — which Sandra had shut down all the way last night, AGAIN — and logged in.
"I’m copying today’s files to the server," said Paul. They’ll be there in a moment. Then I’ll print the schedule for you."
While she was waiting, Cassie checked the paper and toner in the self-serve copiers. Two of them were out of legal size paper, and one was low on letter. She restocked them all and made sure none were jammed. As she returned to her spot behind the counter, Paul came out of the office with the print schedule for the day. He laid it on the counter.
"Here you go," he said. "Pretty straightforward. I have a design job to work on today, so holler if you need me."
Cassie nodded. “Just so you know, Sandra didn’t check the copiers last night and she shut down the computer.”
I have some thoughts about these characters and I might continue this into a full short story. That's the point behind doing a writing prompt each day: generate new story ideas!
I wrote the start of a thing!
