Every morning Jodie woke up to the sound of KLLL blaring out of her alarm clock. She would turn down the dial and get ready for the day. As she dressed, Jodie would sing along with a current hit.
Later, the bedside radio would be turned off and the kitchen one turned on. In the kitchen, a 30-minute sleep time would be activated. Jodie would mix her oatmeal to beat of one her favorite songs. She would discover the day’s temperature as she was placing her spoon and dirty oatmeal bowl into the drain.
The kitchen radio would be turned up so that Jodie could hear it in the bathroom. Jodie would be told about a car deal as she brushed her teeth. An add about weight loss surgery would blare as she added lipstick to her made up face.
The sleep timer would turn off the radio as Jodie grabbed her jacket and opened up the front. On her drive to work, Jodie would turn the car stereo on the hear what joke the morning drive DJ would say to his co-host. She would hear the DJs talk about celebrity gossip as she waded through the traffic at work.
In her work’s parking lot, Jodie would glance at her dashboard clock and listen. The ‘song that paid’ would play and Jodie would call into the radio. For once, Jodie would win something for her loyalty to the radio station.
The prize wouldn’t be cash. The prize would be tickets to go see the ‘song that paid’s’ band. Jodie wouldn’t have recognize the band’s name, but that wouldn’t matter because she loved their hit song.
These were Jodie’s thoughts as she set her alarm clock and per-programmed the radio station’s number into her cell phone.
Just a quick 15 minute response to the prompt.
